we're tough though

some weird stuff happening around nyc the past two days. yesterday, our ferry crashed. it is probably the most convenient way to get into manhattan. about a half hour trip one way. for reasons still unknown the captain went too fast into the wrong pier and tore out the bottom of the boat.

that was the 330 boat. for rushhour, the thousands of people that rely on the ferry to get home from the city were forced to take either express buses or the subway into brooklyn and bus it in from there.

surprisingly the news made it all the way to texas. hey skarekrow, im fine and smiling from your thoughtful voicemails.

today i read a newspaper that had 10 pages of coverage of the story. terror boat, and the nightmare voyage. yes, of course it was a tragedy that killed innocent people, but now the ferry is being regarded as a floating deathtrap. experts have apparently been predicting this for years and shame on ny for letting it happen. i think this is what asitwere was talking about when he said the media shows only the side that it favors, i.e. only the side that will raise emotion levels quickest.

and today a huge water main burst causing the streets to be flooded with something like 4 feet of water, again closing roads and bridges. so all those people who avoided the ferry today and drove in must be banging their heads against the steering wheels as the water rises above their tires.

i wonder what will happen tomorrow? things like this come in threes right?
